Petite Arvine is a very special and uncommon grape variety that is specific to canton Valais. It is a demanding grape that must be planted in the best locations, but not in areas which are too dry. Its thin and delicate, melting skin gives these wines an unmistakable typicity that sets them apart. Petite Arvine wines are elegantly racy and powerful. They are distinguished and easily recognizable by their festive aromas of flowers and fruits, notably grapefruit and rhubarb. On the palate they are vigorous, with an extraordinary blend of complexity and yet delicacy. They end on a characteristic, slightly salty note. Late harvest grapes give a richly concentrated aromatic wine which retains the delicacy yet balance for which these wines are noted and much appreciated. This is a wine that can be drunk young, but that also has good aging potential.
